“No regrets!”
We purchased our lap pool in September 2018. We chose the 50 foot length pool.
Even though the lap pool could be constructed above ground, we chose to partially bury the pool. We used a bobcat to dig and level the hole. We used a screwdriver to nut and bolt the 10 panels on each side of the pool to the 10 bottom panels. Once the panels were erected, we attached the vinyl to the aluminum track which was riveted to the height of the vinyl around the perimeter of the pool. The vinyl was locked into the track with plastic trim that was supplied. The vinyl needed to be cut carefully where the inlet, skimmer and return for the plumbing attached to the end boards supplied (predrilled for 2 inch PVC pipe). The plumbing was probably the easiest part of the job which needed to incorporate a pump for the pool and sand filter (bought separately).
Once the pool panels, vinyl and plumbing were complete, it was water time! Our pool holds 7,000 gallons of water which is less than the standard 20,000 gallon pool and allows a low cost water bill. It is maintained like any other above/ in-ground pool with chemicals and backwashing weekly. We have had our pool for 5 years and our vinyl is still soft and supple. We also invested in a canvas pool cover which helps the longevity of the pool.
Our project was completed in one weekend. Though it required a lot of manual labor, it was worth our daily use and is the best form of exercise or relaxation. Building a modular lap pool was quite an accomplishment with no regrets.
